Pasadena is a city full of rich traditions and historical sites. One of its most iconic structures is the Colorado Street Bridge, which was built back in 1912 and stands as a timeless landmark spanning the Arroyo Seco.
The Colorado Street Bridge Party 2023
In 2023, one of the community’s most popular events returns after a five-year hiatus. The origins of the Colorado Street Bridge Party date back to 1978. The first gathering attracted fewer than 200 people. In the years following, it would grow to host thousands of enthused partygoers, vendors, performers and special guests. The Colorado Street Bridge Party was created as a fundraising effort to help preserve the bridge and its incredible history.
Traditionally, the Bridge Party has been held as a biannual event and known by locals as the city’s “largest block party.” It had to be put on hold during the pandemic, but now everyone is ready to celebrate again on Saturday, July 15, 2023. It will be hosted by Pasadena Heritage and will feature entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages.
Party Atop the Bridge!
The bridge will of course be closed off to traffic and the official festivities will run from 6:00pm to 11:30pm. It’s rare to have a chance to walk across the bridge without traffic. It’s truly something special to stand atop the Colorado Street Bridge and be a part of this special event as you watch the sunset over the Arroyo. There will be classic cars on display, along with live music and many other activities for kids and adults alike.
You can check out craft samplings from the San Antonio Winery, Craftsman Brewing and Eagle Rock Brewery. Other vendors will be there serving special cocktails for the event. Of course, there will be a ton of food to enjoy, as well. You can have some traditional barbecue and LA street food favorites, or you can try out some fun desserts like funnel cakes and even vegan popsicles.

All proceeds from the Colorado Street Bridge Party will help support Pasadena Heritage’s ongoing efforts to identify, preserve and protect the architectural and cultural resources of the City of Pasadena. This includes making sure the Colorado Street Bridge itself (and the Street Party) remains an icon for many future generations to come.
