As lovers of art and culture, we are proud to support all programs and events at the historic Pasadena Playhouse. This local institution does so much to preserve and promote theater arts, and they offer great shows throughout the year. They also offer excellent educational programs aimed at training the theater stars of tomorrow.
Summer Musical Theater Boot Camp
One of their most popular programs is the summer Musical Theater Boot Camp. It is designed for high school students to hone their auditioning skills before heading into college and other theater learning institutions. Students will head into the application and audition season with a repertoire of monologues and songs, as well as training to find performance material appropriate for their age and acting type.
When and Where
The Musical Theater Boot Camp will begin in July, with both two-week beginner/intermediate and advanced sessions available. It will be taught by some of the leading musical theater experts at the Pasadena Playhouse, including Boot Camp Director Will Pellegrini and Music Director Adam McDonald. Additional industry professionals and guest artists will provide specialized workshops in acting, singing, dancing, movement, theater history and what to expect from the college theater landscape. Each session will culminate in a special performance showcase for family and friends.
- Beginner/Intermediate Session: July 8-19, 2024
- Advanced Session: July 22 – August 4, 2024
Boot Camp sessions will be held across multiple venues, including the Pasadena Playhouse campus, the Carrie Hamilton Theater, the Playhouse Library and other rehearsal spaces.
Applications and Auditions
In order to attend the Pasadena Playhouse Musical Theater Boot Camp, students must submit an application and a brief video audition. It will include a personal introduction, as well a musical theater song performance. Dancing and monologue audition clips are also recommended to show your breadth of skills.
