Even though we don’t have quite a white winter wonderland here in Los Angeles, there are many great holiday traditions throughout November and December. This is always such a fun time of year. The Durkovic Group likes to stay in the holiday spirit by attending festive events, musical performances and unique seasonal art installations.

Here are a few 2022 holiday events and exhibits we are looking forward to in LA:

Lightscape
LA County Arboretum • November 11 – January 8

Last year, the LA County Arboretum introduced Lightscape as their new winter tradition. It is back again this year, and it’s going to be even more amazing. You will walk along a mile-long path through uplit trees. Along the way, you will experience a number of new art installations this year, along with the awe-inspiring Winter Cathedral display. This is a family-friendly even that combines holiday lights and nature in a beautiful way. Learn more and buy tickets.

LA Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow
Los Angeles Zoo • November 18 – January 22

If you love stunning light displays blended with nature, you will also want to check out the LA Zoo Lights. This has become a true holiday tradition, with the Los Angeles Zoo staying open longer after dark and lighting up with some amazing displays. The lighting, artwork and musical elements are inspired by the zoo’s animal residents and their unique natural habitats. Learn more and buy tickets.

The Nutcracker with Dudamel: Tchaikovsky & Ellington
Walt Disney Concert Hall • December 3 – 18

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without seeing at least one great ballet performance of The Nutcracker. This concert series at the Walt Disney Concert Hall focuses specifically on the music with Gustavo Dudamel conducting a live orchestral performance of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece composition. The LA Philharmonic will be performing original selections from the score, along with some jazzed-up brass elements inspired by Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington’s unique take on the classical score. The Huntington will be home to this incredible display of French decorative arts that originally inspired animation backgrounds for Disney classics like Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty. Approximately 50 works of European art and design will be on display, with centuries-old pieces next to the production artworks from Disney movies and theme parks. Learn more and buy tickets.
