Art is such an inspiration to us on a daily basis. From interior design and architecture to fine arts and music, we appreciate all types of artistic expression. This is why Greg, Tim and The Durkovic Group support several local art museums, music institutions and educational programs.
There are always some incredible art exhibits and events happening throughout Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley. We wanted to highlight two fantastic exhibits which just opened up in LA.
Cindy Sherman 1977 – 1982
Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles • Through January 8, 2023
This photography and art exhibit recently completed a highly successful presentation in New York. Now, it is showing at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles and will be available until January 8.
Cindy Sherman was a true revolutionary as an artistic photographer, makeup artist, hairdresser, stylist and director. More than 100 of her amazing works will be on display, spanning from her earliest works to her most acclaimed years. You will be able to see the complete set of 70 Untitled Film Stills, Rear Screen Projections, Centerfolds and Color Studies, which was her section major solo exhibition.
Though these pieces were created over 40 years ago, Sherman’s influence is still felt in the worlds of art, photography, fashion and cinematography today. She explored many different film and pop culture genres with a unique perspective captured through through the camera lens and various media.
Sherman is still active today, exploring digital technology to further portray her wide cast of captivating characters. This exhibit celebrates her pivotal years of 1977 through 1982. Click here to learn more.
Ink Paper, Stone: Six Women Artists and the Language of Lithography
Norton Simon Museum • Through February 13, 2023
Another wonderful art exhibit is being featured at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena through February 23. It focuses on the art of lithography and six contemporary female innovators in this artistic genre: Ruth Asawa, Gego, Eleanore Mikus, Louise Nevelson, Irene Siegel and Hedda Stone
Each of these women received a two-month fellowship at the acclaimed Tamarind Lithography Workshop, which was founded by visionary printmaker, June Wayne, back in 1960. Their time in this workshop inspired some fascinating work and aesthetic explorations.
