Architecture and design play major roles in my real estate business. This is why it’s important to be involved with organizations like the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA). Their Southern California chapter offers many events, lectures, walking tours and other interactive experiences throughout the year. Here are some of the ICAA SoCal fall events coming up in October and early November:

Hollywood Forever Sketching Class with Winston Chappel
October 5

This annual ICAA SoCal Sketching class takes place at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, just in time for Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos. It centers around drawings inspired by famous deceased celebrities and their classic homes. Attendees can practice freehand sketching or create more measured drawings. Winston Chappell leads the course and will provide drawing tips amidst the elaborate tombs of the cemetery.

Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill Lecture and Book Signing
October 21

Gather at the de Gournay residence to hear Lady Churchill discuss her new book Blenheim – 300 Years of Life in a Palace. This stately home in Great Britain is a standout of classical English architecture and design. This event will feature reading excerpts, unique stories and a personal book signing with Lady Churchill, who represents the twelfth generation of her family to live in this palatial estate.

Legacy Awards 2024, Honoring Erik Evens
October 24

Erik Evens is a lifelong California resident and prominent local architect. His career and contributions to the industry are being celebrated at the annual Legacy Awards gala dinner. The event will be held at The California Club in Los Angeles and is a must-attend for any classical architecture enthusiast. Be sure and reserve your tickets soon before it sells out!

Windsor Square Home & Walking Tour
November 9

Join Bret Parsons and Eleanor Schrader on this walking tour of the incredible Windsor Square neighborhood in the Wilshire region of Los Angeles. You will tour some of the classic homes and learn the history of the neighborhood through the eyes of these architectural experts.
