The Pasadena Playhouse is recognized as the State Theater of California. They put on many incredible shows and educational programs throughout the year. Inherit the Wind
November 1-26, 2023

This classic play from Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee is more relevant now than ever. It pits two of the nation’s leading lawyers against one another in a battle of wit and wisdom. This performance features the legendary Alfred Molina playing the roll of Henry Drummond and John Douglas Thompson portraying Matthew Harrison Brady. Kate
January 17 – February 11, 2024

The brilliant and hilarious Kate Berlant brings her widely celebrated one-woman show to the Pasadena Playhouse next January. The comedian embodies a variety of unique characters and reveals some interesting personal truths during this incredible performance. Learn more.

One of the Good Ones
March 13 – April 7, 2024

This will be the world premier of this new comedy from Gloria Calderón Kellett, which was commissioned by the Pasadena Playhouse. It’s about a Latina woman who brings her boyfriend home to meet the parents. Tensions and hilarity ensue as her family dynamics and cultural biases are put on full display. Learn more.

Jelly’s Last Jam
May 28 – June 23, 2024

This musical adaptation explores the history of jazz and the life of legendary musician Jelly Roll Morton. When this self-proclaimed “inventor of jazz” finds himself at a crossroads, a remarkable story unfolds. It is based on the book by George C. Wolfe and features the original music of Jelly Roll Morton, as adapted by Luther Henderson. Lyrical content was written by Susan Birkenhead. Learn more.
