Let’s turn this month’s spotlight on Greg and Bob Smith – the Smith Brothers – successful restaurateurs and philanthropists and owners of three of Pasadena’s finest restaurants. Here are their insights on lighting and how to use it successfully to create mood and ambiance:
(Gregg Smith): “The rule that lighting plays is different in each restaurant. We have decorative lighting, we have direct lighting. We don’t use any LED lighting in our restaurants. If I could give one piece of advice to homeowners on lighting, I would say incorporate decorative lighting with functional lighting, play with it, and put everything on a dimmer. It’s always been our intent for our guests to walk into a warm, inviting, sexy environment where everyone can kind of come in, take a deep breath, and relax from their hectic lives.”
